(This is me before my gastric bypass surgery)

(now...)

(With Steve another Coastal patient in his old pants)

Feb 5th 2003 my life as I knew it was forever changed. Little did I know just how much it would! From 292 lbs to 120lbs I now can live my life as it was meant to be lived.  Words cannot clearly express my gratitude. I have learned how to care for myself with Dr. Owens’ help and the support of other patients and my new friends... At 120lbs I sure look good doing it . If having a healthy future is something you really want for yourself and your family then this can be yours too.

After a lifetime of being morbidly obese. On Feb. 5th 2003 I started a journey toward being the person I was always meant to be. Weighing in at 292 lbs and 5ft 5in. No longer am I a person watching others have a life, but I have a life. And at 120-125 lbs I know I am not bad to look at ether. Now I like myself and I am happy. Thanks to the Coastal Center staff and support of other patients I know am not alone and can live a healthy and great life. Free of pain, medications. Life is VERY GOOD. I have become the real & true me and I LOVE who I have become!"

I want to thank Dr Owens for helping me become the person you see today. A healthy and happy woman. This is why I want to help all others who think being like I used to be is all they have to look forward too. It isn’t; if I can do this with the help of all who work at Coastal Center for Obesity, so can they. I will be the voice of every woman over 50yrs who thinks life is something you watch everyone else in your family having. I am grateful for what my life was before surgery, but now I truly have a real life. I also know what it is like to be a young person who has to pretend to be happy for your friends when they had dates and boyfriends Life doesn’t get much harder than that.

I have done motivational speaking on many other subjects. Speaking for the mentally challenged population and persons imprisoned. I now want to speak for the many women and men who are morbidly obese and how the world sees them but more importantly how they see themselves as not being worthy. But this doesn’t have to be true any more. They can have full lives filled with love and happiness and most of all health. I want to let people know that this is for them also. I am like them. I am not a Carney Wilson, but I am a real person with a real life who with Dr. Owens’ help can show others how to live their new life as a health and slim individual.

I am now a Support Group Leader for Dr. Owens at Rancho Specialty Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga.
